Often TVs fail, repairing them is not profitable, replacing broken parts is expensive, so there is only one way out — buying a new TV. Often, during the acquisition, various questions arise: how to choose, what to look for, which models should be preferred? Let’s consider them in more detail.
Screen Specifications
- Screen diagonal. Manufacturers indicate sizes in inches, in most cases you can determine by the first two digits that are indicated in the model number. 1 inch — 2.55 centimeters, for example, 40 inches = 102 cm.
- Viewing angle. This parameter can be limited, because this is how the matrix of liquid crystal displays is arranged. Budget TVs in particular have a similar disadvantage. The quality of the picture deteriorates noticeably if the view is from above or below. When viewed from the side, quality distortion is not noticeable.
- Contrast. The parameter determines the brightness of each of the pixels placed on the screen, i.e. difference between bright and dark areas. A higher contrast ratio is better because the image will be sharper and more saturated. Standardized as 1000:1. In the case when the value of this indicator is minimal, the colors of the black tint will simply look gray. Plasma TVs have a higher degree of contrast than LCD TVs. But when the backlight on light-emitting diodes appeared — LED, the situation changed dramatically. Current technologies allow you to create image contrast at the highest level. But each manufacturer uses its own development technologies, which can make it different. When choosing a TV in a store, you should first try to change the contrast settings, so you can make a selection of the best model.
- Permission. The indicator determines the number of pixels vertically and horizontally. The more pixels on the display, the better for image quality. But even if your TV has the ability to reproduce a picture in high resolution, then the video must be appropriate in order to realize this opportunity.
- Brightness. Image quality directly depends on this criterion. In any case, everyone was faced with the fact that it was necessary to close the windows so that on a sunny day the image on TV could be clearly seen. Our time has simplified everything, because the current technology has a high brightness, so any type of TV has its proper level.
Other Options
- Acoustics. This indicator needs to be given considerable attention. After all, standard speakers are not able to convey all the details of the sound stream, in which case the TV should be supplemented with a good speaker system, for example, a soundbar. An additional subwoofer connected to the TV allows you to reproduce low frequencies, which is of great importance while listening to audio tracks or watching movies with special effects.
- Communication. It is also important that the TV has outputs for data transfer from external drives. You should look for USB ports, slots for external memory cards, etc.
There are many criteria for choosing home TV, all this must be taken into account when making a purchase, because the further use of household appliances depends on it. Be careful!
