The 21st century has long been outside, but felt boots — old peasant winter shoes — do not even think of becoming history or a souvenir (as, for example, bast shoes have become). Boots are worn in the city — in winter, in frost, when the snow has already fallen confidently and will not melt in one day. They are also worn indoors: cute felt boots with felt soles are perfect for home, when the heating has already been turned off, and summer has not yet been turned on.

Now felt boots are relevant, like a hundred, like two hundred years ago. As it should be for any living phenomenon, they are being improved, updated, changing their appearance and properties.

We will look into them.

The first image that comes to mind at the word “boots” is black, large, high, without soles. The foot in them is fixed at a right angle, as in plaster: authentic boots do not bend. If you had to wear them, you know the specific feeling when your shin in motion bumps into the edge of the felt boot, and the strange feeling of semi-balance: there is no usual sole, and the bottom of these shoes is round, like the bottom of a tumbler.

All these properties can be considered history: modern felt boots took only warm hygienic felt from the prototype.

Benefits of Covalenki boots

Wool fur lining

The so-called «woolen fur» is animal fibers on a viscose basis; the proportion of wool is from 50% to 80%. This material is very warm and breathable. In addition, sheep’s wool contains lanolin, an animal wax that keeps animal hair shiny and repels moisture. Lanolin has a strong emollient effect, which is why it is included in many cosmetic products, from face creams to hair balms.

Removable insoles

They are convenient because they can be dried and processed separately, and if desired, you can replace the insole with an orthopedic one.

Outsole made of rubber and thermoplastic elastomers (TPE)

Boots with rubber soles are better than without them: such shoes are much more comfortable and much less afraid of dampness on the street. The soles of Covalenki shoes also have a reliable tread that provides excellent grip. Having shoes that do not slip in winter is one of the conditions for your safety.

The outsole made of rubber and TPE is resistant to frost and wear, it is quite flexible and is not afraid of reagents.

Models of increased completeness

In the Covalenki collection there are models made on pads of increased fullness.

Our felt boots offer a series of models made on pads of increased fullness. These shoes feature extra volume at the forefoot, toe and instep for added comfort. By the way, we have expanded the size range of the women’s collection to 43 sizes!

Free shaft width

On many Covalenki models, the shaft width can be varied using laces, elastic inserts, Velcro or drawstrings with a lock. There are many solutions, the result is shoes that are comfortable for you!

Ability to wear with different clothes

Covalenki boots can be worn in different ways, depending on your style and situation: they can be wide enough to tuck your trousers into them, and narrow enough to fit under clothes and become almost invisible.

How to care for boots

The difficulty of caring for felt boots is that it is felt, that is, wool — a material that can shrink, which is afraid of fire and water.

How to dry felt boots

— So that the boots do not lose their shape, stuff them with paper. If the felt boots are white, it is better to use paper without inscriptions so that the paint does not stain the shoes from the inside.

— You can not dry the felt boots on batteries, near the stove and open fire — from this, the felt boots shrink and deform. You can dry at some distance from the batteries, and better — at room temperature.

Dry cleaning

— To begin with, you can vacuum the felt boots (with a nozzle for upholstered furniture).

— You can clean the felt with flour, semolina, soda or starch — these products do not damage the felt and do not leave streaks. Sprinkle a little flour/cereal on the stained area and wipe it with a dry cloth. Then knock out the boots so that there are no extra particles left on them.

Dry cleaning is also suitable for the inner surface; then you can remove the flour from the shoes with a vacuum cleaner.

Getting rid of stains

— You can’t wash felt boots in a washing machine, even in a delicate mode.

— To remove stains, use a solution of laundry soap or a Vanish solution (according to the instructions on the package). Apply the product on felt boots and clean them with a rag or brush. After that, remove the soap suds with a damp cloth or hand (not under running water!)

Important: do not use hot water, boots can be deformed. In general, try to wet them as little as possible.

Take care of your boots, and they will please you for a long time!
